Postdoctoral Researcher at John Innes Centre

Emmanuel S. has extensive work experience in the field of research and academia. Emmanuel is currently working as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the John Innes Centre, starting in December 2021. Prior to this role, Emmanuel worked as a Student Researcher in Plant Molecular Genetics at Cranfield University from January 2017 to July 2021. In this role, they conducted phenotyping and genotyping analysis on tomato mutants to identify genetic linkages to agronomic traits. Emmanuel also performed whole genome sequencing and analyzed transcriptome data of the tomato genome.

Before joining Cranfield University, Emmanuel worked as a Graduate Assistant at the Federal University of Technology, Akure from March 2014 to January 2017. In this position, they planned, organized, and assessed undergraduate student coursework and co-led a research project on assessing the nutritional and antioxidant properties of biofortified cassava varieties. Emmanuel also managed undergraduate student records and mentored students on winning scholarships.

Prior to their role at the Federal University of Technology, Emmanuel worked as a Teaching Assistant/Laboratory Technologist at Federal Polytechnic Ilaro from March 2013 to February 2014. Emmanuel gained experience in teaching and laboratory management during this time. Emmanuel began their career as a Quality Control Supervisor at Dangote Industries Limited from March 2011 to December 2011.

Emmanuel S. has an extensive education history in the field of science and technology. Emmanuel started their educational journey in 2007 at the Federal University of Technology Akure, where they earned a Bachelor's Degree in Food Science and Technology (FST) in 2012.

After completing their undergraduate studies, Emmanuel pursued further education at Cranfield University. From 2015 to 2016, they obtained a Master's Degree in Food Chain Systems. Building on this foundation, Emmanuel continued their academic pursuits at Cranfield University and completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Plant Genetics and Bioinformatics from 2017 to 2021.

In addition to their formal degrees, Emmanuel has also obtained additional certifications. In 2014, they acquired the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) System certification from the International Life Sciences Institute, University of Ghana Legon (ILSI-UGL). During the same year, they also obtained the Food Safety for Nutritionist certification from the same institution.
