Joseph A Lavilla

Joseph A LaVilla, PhD, CWE, currently serves as Culinary Operations Manager and Retail Manager at John Muir Health, alongside a role as Adjunct Faculty Instructor at City College of San Francisco since January 2019. With extensive experience in academia, LaVilla was an Adjunct Faculty at College of Marin from August 2018 to January 2020, and previously lectured at San Francisco State University from August 2015 to August 2018, focusing on food management and dining operations. As Dean of Academic Affairs at the Art Institute of California in San Francisco from December 2011 to August 2015, LaVilla oversaw academic operations for a diverse student body. Earlier positions include Sr Academic Director at EDMC, Director of the International Culinary School at the Art Institute of Phoenix, and instructor roles in sommelier training and culinary education. LaVilla holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Rochester and an AOS in Culinary Arts from The Culinary Institute of America.
