David Adams began their work experience in 1984 at the Batesville Casket Company, where they held various roles, including Vice President of Strategic Accounts and International Markets. In 1993, they became Vice President and continued in that role until 2010. From 2000 to 2002, Adams served as the Vice President of Sales for Skylawn Corporation, managing a large salesforce and implementing effective strategies in the San Francisco Bay area. David then worked as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing at LifeMark from 2002 to 2004, where they successfully developed marketing plans and implemented a new sales compensation model. Adams joined Carriage Services in 2010 as the Director of Strategic Development until 2014 when they became a Senior Executive Consultant at Johnson Consulting Group. In 2007, they co-founded StoNGo Storage, LLP, a private business specializing in high-end RV and Boat storage. Throughout their career, Adams has gained expertise in strategic development, sales, marketing, and business consulting within the funeral industry.

David Adams earned an Associate of Arts (AA) degree in General Studies from Southeastern Illinois College in Harrisburg, Illinois from 1971 to 1974. David then attended Southern Illinois University, Carbondale from 1976 to 1977, where they obtained a B.S. in Mortuary Psychology and Criminology. Later, in 2013 and 2014, they pursued a Graduate Certificate in Finance and Accounting from Rice University.
