About the Role

The Duty Manager is an integral role within the business that will support the daily activities of the operation, enabling the business to meet its organisational and operational objectives. This role will communicate effectively and efficiently across all departments and will ensure the day-to-day operational activities flow smoothly.

The key responsibilities of this role are to:

  • Review passenger and vessel capacities for the current day and forecast of the following 4 days, ensuring any required changes are made and communicated to the relevant departments and stakeholders
  • Monitor weather conditions in collaboration with the Fleet Manager and Vessel Masters, ensuring appropriate action is taken as required, in accordance with operational guidelines
  • Manage unplanned crew absences, ensuring all vessels remain compliant with minimum manning requirements
  • Follow up on and action any required items from the previous days Duty Manager handover summary
  • Provide a detailed summary outlining any notable incidents or events to Management Team and fellow Duty Managers at end of each shift, allowing for a seamless transition for the next Duty Manager
  • Ensure any incidents or near misses are reported and logged into the incident reporting system within the prescribed timeframes
  • Provide assistance and support to the operational teams across the business as needed
  • Facilitate effective communication between departments, ensuring relevant information is disseminated appropriately
  • Liase with external stakeholders and relevant authorities as required

To be successful in this position you will need to:

  • Have demonstrated experience and knowledge of the Marine industry or, experience in a similar role
  • Possess sound Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Be able to communicate effectively with our guests and team members
  • Possess strong organisational skills with the ability to work independently and outside of standard office hours
  • Have excellent customer service and problem resolution skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, adhere to tight time restraints, improvise, and set priorities
  • Be reliable, flexible and have an honest approach to work
  • Be willing to work a wide range of hours over a 7-day roster, including public holidays
  • Hold a valid driver's licence and have own transport
