Thembi Mda

Thembi Mda's work experience includes a position as Head of Interest Rates & Currencies at the JSE starting in 2022. Prior to that, they worked at the National Treasury of South Africa, where they held various roles such as Acting Director of Treasury Funding, Deputy Director of Treasury Funding, Senior Economist of International & Regional Economic Policy at the BRICS Desk, and Economist of Local Government. Thembi also worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Johannesburg from 2009 to 2010.

Thembi Mda completed their Mcom Economics degree at the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria in 2018. Prior to that, they completed their Bcom Honours (Economics) degree at the same university in 2014.

Before attending the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria, Thembi Mda pursued their Bcom Honours (Monetary & Financial Economics) degree at the University of Johannesburg, which they completed in 2009.

Their undergraduate studies in economics began at the University of Johannesburg, where they obtained a Bcom (Economics & Econometrics) degree in 2008.
