James Patey

Senior Software Engineer at Judopay

James Patey has over 17 years of work experience in software engineering. James began their career in 2002 as a Student Internship at 3Com, where they worked as a software developer in the Network Management Group. During this time, they gained experience in Java desktop applications, Swing GUI tools, and networking equipment.

In 2005, they moved to Auto-Online Ltd, where they worked in an agile team to develop web applications using Java in a Tomcat/MySQL/Debian environment.

From 2007 to 2011, Patey worked as a Software Developer at New Era (formerly Editure). There they were responsible for working through the full development of features, formulating requirements and design, and producing a framework for standardizing authentication and integration of third-party content into the learning platform.

Patey then moved to CodingCraft Ltd, where they were a Software Engineer from 2011 to 2014. During this time, they were responsible for developing and maintaining large-scale Java EE web applications and back-end systems for clients, as well as analysing, updating, and refactoring legacy applications to achieve improved maintainability, scalability, and performance.

In 2019, Patey joined Judopay as a Senior Software Engineer. James is currently employed in this role.

James Patey attended the University of Bath from 2000 to 2004, where they earned a BSc in Computer Science.
