Senior Technical Artist (tools And Pipeline) at Kabam

Henson Tan has a diverse work experience in the field of technical art and animation. Henson is currently working at Kabam as a Senior Technical Artist, focusing on building a central tool library for multiple projects and improving tool deployment between teams. Prior to this, they worked at Electronic Arts (EA) as a Senior Technical Artist, where they were responsible for building pipelines and tools for art asset migration to the Frostbite game engine. Henson also served as the Technical Art team lead for various titles, leading a team of Technical Artists and ensuring efficient tools and stable pipelines for art asset delivery. Before their role as a Senior Technical Artist, Henson started their career at EA as a Junior Technical Artist, where they self-taught MEL scripting and worked on several AAA titles. Henson also worked as an Environment and Level Design Artist, focusing on prop modeling, texture work, and level design for PS2 titles and sports games like FIFA and NBA Street. In addition to their work in the gaming industry, Henson has also taught as a World Environment and Scripting Instructor at the Vancouver Institute of Media Arts, where they created course outlines and taught various topics related to concept design, modeling, scripting, and more. Before joining EA, they worked as a Motion Capture Technical Director at Mainframe Entertainment, where they were involved in cleaning up motion capture data, setting up camera animation, and other animation-related tasks for shows like Heavy Gear and Action Man. Throughout their career, Henson has consistently focused on developing tools, workflows, and pipelines to enhance efficiency and scalability in art production.

Henson Tan has a diverse education history with a focus on industrial design, computer animation, electronics, and computer science. In 1996, Henson started attending Simon Fraser University and completed two years with a major in Computer Science and a minor in Business and Economics. From 1998 to 1999, Henson attended the British Columbia Institute of Technology, where they obtained an Electronic Technician Diploma, specializing in electronics. In 1999, Henson enrolled in the Vancouver Film School and earned a Certificate in a 3D Computer Animation course, which included courses in 3D modeling, animation, and art foundation. Finally, from 2005 to 2007, Henson studied at the Emily Carr University of Art and Design, where they earned a Certificate in Industrial Design, focusing on rapid sketch visual design and concept design.
