Mario Vachon has extensive experience in risk management and financial strategies. Mario is currently serving as the Co-founder and COO of Kaira Technologies, a role they took on in October 2022. Prior to this, they held the position of COO at the same company starting in August 2022.
Before joining Kaira Technologies, they were the President of Vachon Strategies Ltd, starting in May 2022.
From November 2019 to October 2021, Mario worked as the Chief Risk Officer at RFA Bank of Canada. In this role, they were responsible for implementing balanced corporate governance to manage risks and opportunities, leading to sustainable growth for the Bank. Mario successfully restructured the risk management team and achieved the first two phases of a three-year plan to exceed regulatory requirements.
Prior to their time at RFA Bank of Canada, from 2010 to 2019, Mario held various roles at MCAP, including Senior Vice President - Credit Quality & Risk Management and Vice President Risk Management. Mario effectively managed risk and portfolio performance, achieving an average annual growth of 10% while maintaining industry-leading mortgage default ratios.
Mario also served as the Chief Risk Officer at AIG Mortgage Insurance Company Canada from November 2006 to April 2010. During their tenure, they led the team responsible for governance, risk & compliance, audit, loss mitigation, and quantitative analysis. Mario implemented insurance policies and guidelines that resulted in significant market share growth and generated substantial net premiums.
Mario began their career at RBC Royal Bank, where they held the position of Senior Manager Financial Strategies and Treasury Management from 1998 to 2006. Mario oversaw mortgage loan markets, alternative mortgage solutions, and residential construction loans, implementing credit and operational risk policies. Mario was instrumental in restructuring BRC Solution Alternatives Hypothécaires and launching the National Residential Construction Program, achieving significant cost savings and risk exposure reduction.

Mario Vachon's education history starts with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Economics from Université de Montréal, which they obtained from 1986 to 1989. Mario then pursued a Maîtrise in Economics from the same university from 1989 to 1990. In the same time period, they also completed a Maitrise de cours in Economics from Université de Montréal. Mario Vachon later attended HEC Montréal from 1992 to 1994, where they obtained a Diplome Etudes Superieures en Gestion in Entrepreneurial and Small Business Operations.
In addition to their formal education, Mario Vachon has obtained several certifications. In 1999, they completed the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) from the Canadian Securities Institute (CSI), as well as the Conduct and Practices Handbook Course (CPH) from the Canadian Securities Institute. In 2006, they attained the Ethical Practice in the Mortgage Industry certification from Mortgage Professionals Canada, followed by the Accredited Mortgage Professional certification in 2007, also from Mortgage Professionals Canada. Mario Vachon further enhanced their professional skills and knowledge through certifications such as Coaching with Integrity from the Coaching and Sales Institute, the Personal Leadership Programme from Leaders Edge Inc., and the Emergenetics Profile from Emergenetics International, which they obtained in 2014 and 2015 respectively.
