Sandy Barry-Loken

Sandy Barry-Loken is the VP, Community Impact & Investment at Kalamazoo Community Foundation. Sandy has been with the organization since February 2003 and has served as the Director since April 2014.

Sandy has been instrumental in leading the organization to serve 43% of all possible participants – the highest participation rate of over 200 Girls on the Run councils in the US and Canada. Under Sandy’s direction, the organization has developed infrastructure, administration, and financial systems to support effective program delivery, capacity building, and organizational sustainability in collaboration with council board.

In addition, Sandy has been responsible for hiring, training and supervising organizational staff, as well as leading and implementing the organization’s strategy, policies, fund development and communications. Sandy also manages finances including budget preparation in conjunction with the Executive Committee of Girls on the Run. Overall, Sandy oversees program operations ensuring a commitment to diversity and inclusion; the removal of barriers to participation; the maintenance of program integrity and adherence to and compliance with GOTR-International standards and contractual requirements. Lastly, Sandy coordinates and develops organizational marketing including content management of website, mass email communications, press releases, and social media.

Sandy Barry-Loken has a Master of Arts in Counselor Education/Counseling Psychology and a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations from Western Michigan University.

Their manager is Vallay Varro, Interim Co-President & CEO. They work with Laura Galaviz - Scholarship Director, Sarah Lee - Marketing Communications Director, and Erycka Hunter - VP of Operations.
