Chuck Coleman

Chuck Coleman is Executive Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Secretary. In this role, Coleman oversees strategic legal and business planning for KAR and its subsidiaries, including corporate governance, securities, litigation and worldwide merger and acquisition activities.

Coleman assumed his current role in 2019. He joined KAR in 2015 as Vice President, Assistant General Counsel and Assistant Secretary, and was promoted in 2017 to Senior Vice President and General Counsel. Coleman was instrumental in the negotiation and planning of KAR’s new corporate headquarters and directed legal activities in connection with KAR’s domestic and international acquisitions as well as the spin-off of KAR’s second-largest business unit. Prior to joining KAR, Coleman was a partner with the law firm of Krieg DeVault LLP, where he was chair of the business practice group, gaining nearly 20 years of corporate and mergers and acquisitions experience.

Coleman has several times been recognized as an Indiana Super Lawyer and an Indiana Super Lawyers Rising Star. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in accounting, and then earned his law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law.
