Major Gifts Officer
Job Summary
Karam Foundation is seeking a skilled Major Gifts Officer to help us achieve our yearly fundraising goal of $4.5 million. The Major Gifts Officer will be responsible for identifying and cultivating relationships with prospective major gift donors and planned giving donors. This includes prospect researching and developing effective solicitation strategies and stewarding donors throughout the major giving process.
Our ideal candidate will create an intentional, collaborative experience for donors, inspire them to give generously to support displaced Syrian communities, and champion Karam’s innovative approach. We are looking for an expert with strong fundraising experience. Your role will be central to scaling Karam’s future impact. This position is a career accelerator with access to high-level opportunities and experiences, from connecting with significant donors worldwide to supporting the CEO on board development. The Major Gifts Officer reports to the CEO.

Reports To
CEO and works closely with the Director of Communications & Development
Location
We are a remote team in the US. Location is flexible with a commitment to US central zone working hours
QUALIFICATIONS
What We’re Looking For: The Essentials
3-5 years experience in major gift strategy and fundraising, including experience raising $2-5 million annually and/or securing 6- or 7-figure gifts
Experience as a frontline fundraiser or in a philanthropic capacity/role
Track record of utilizing different fundraising tactics to mobilize donor bases
Excellent verbal and written communicator
Experience working with remote teams
Extremely organized and results-oriented
Demonstrated skills initiating and managing projects, working independently, and meeting deadlines
Strong people skills with demonstrated empathy and emotional intelligence
Adaptability in a fast-paced environment and willingness to learn new things
Availability to travel to meet with donors across the US
What We’re Looking For: Strongly Preferred
Experience working on Syria and/or humanitarian crises
Experience with fundraising software such as Salesforce
Strong teamwork and leadership skills
Design and formatting skills for gift proposals a plus
Experience working with volunteers
RESPONSIBILITIES
Approximately 75% of your time will be spent on the Strategy, Major Gifts, and CEO Support responsibilities noted below, with the other 25% supporting the Communications & Development Team.
Strategy: You will work closely with the CEO and Director of Communications & Development to develop and execute a plan for overall major gift strategy.
Major Gifts: Manage the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewarding of mid-level donors (lifetime giving $1,000+) and major gift prospects (lifetime giving $2,500+) in a portfolio of around 100 donors (majority in the US; some international). As a part of this scope, you will be preparing written proposals, presentations, and other communications and fundraising materials using a donor-centered lens. You will also have in-person and virtual meetings with donors.
CEO Support: You will support the CEO in managing her portfolio of major donors and help prepare materials for meetings, proposals, and presentations. You will also support the CEO in board development.
Supporting Development Department Data Tracking: You will assist with fundraising data benchmarking and analysis through Salesforce Lightning.
Department Support: You will collaborate with the Communications & Development team to support: online campaigns, fundraising events, review grant applications, etc.
Compensation Range
Base Salary: $65,000-$75,000*
