KE Andrews has an immediate need for severance tax associate whose primary role will be handling severance tax compliance and tax minimization in the oil and gas industry. The role is based in Rockwall, TX East of Dallas. The ideal candidate is a technical, team-oriented, personable individual that can work in an extremely fast-paced environment under deadlines. You will learn all aspects of severance taxes as they relate to oil and gas companies while working closely with the severance tax team. We are a team first culture that thrives in an atmosphere of leaning on the expertise around you. Prior oil and gas revenue or severance tax experience would be helpful, but not necessarily required. Experience with oil and gas JIB, GL or joint venture audit experience helpful. Familiarity with Texas Petro a plus.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Research & Analysis of state severance tax issues in various states

  • Some severance tax compliance work

  • Working with large amounts of data and various accounting software

  • Timely preparation of monthly severance tax filings

  • Maintain documentation for state tax audits

  • Maintain internal controls documentation

  • Communicating with clients and outside contacts at regulatory and taxing authorities

  • Maintain current understanding of state tax laws, rules and rulings regarding deductions and exemptions

  • Interact with the oil & gas department to obtain data and evidence for deductions & exemptions

  • Performs research for proposals

  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree and 0-2 years audit or tax related experience

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research.
