Richard Lewis

Richard Lewis, M.D., is the former director of glaucoma at the University of California and is currently in clinical practice with Sacamento Eye Consultants in Sacramento, CA. Dr. Lewis is actively involved in clinical research in glaucoma therapy. Dr. Lewis is on the editorial board of the Journals of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Glaucoma, and Glaucoma Today. Dr. Lewis attended the University of California, Berkeley as an undergraduate and received his doctorate in medicine from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago. His professional training included an internship in internal medicine at Northwestern University Evanston Hospital; a residency at the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of California, Davis; and a fellowship in glaucoma at the University of Iowa Department of Ophthalmology. He has received the American Academy of Ophthalmology Honor and Senior Honor Awards for his contributions to teaching and leadership. He is a past President of the American Glaucoma Society and a past President of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.
