Ashlee is from Los Angeles, California, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science (Equine Industry) from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. After graduating in 2015, she came to Kentucky for a year-long internship at Kentucky Equine Research and has stayed on as a full-time employee. Through sponsorship by Kentucky Equine Research, she’s currently earning her Master’s from the University of Kentucky under Dr. Kristine Urschel. Her master’s research focuses on altering protein synthesis in the exercising horse through the mTOR pathway. As Research Coordinator, she is primarily tasked with organizing research trials from concept to study close-out, including preparation and management of trial protocols and records and leading the IACUC committee.
