James Muigai

Chief Technical Instructor at Kenya Airways

James Muigai has a diverse work experience in the aviation industry. James started their career as an Aircraft Electrical and Instruments Technician in the Department of Defence Avionics Maintenance Squadron in 1989. James was responsible for maintaining and repairing military aircraft electrical and instrument systems. In 1996, they joined the Teachers Service Commission as a Senior Technical Trainer. In 2001, they transitioned to Kenya Airways as a Technical Instructor for Electrics and Avionics, where they stayed until 2003. From 2005 onwards, James Muigai worked at Kenya Airways, first as Chief Technical Instructor and later, in 2022, as part of the Aircraft Maintenance Training Support Services at Aerosafe Africa Consultants.

James Muigai has a strong education history in the field of aviation and engineering. James completed Original Aircraft Manufacturer Line & Base Maintenance courses, including soft skill training. James then pursued a Higher National Diploma in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Electronics at The Kenya Polytechnic from 1999 to 2001. Prior to that, they obtained a Diploma in Technical Education from Kenya Technical Teachers College in 1995 and a Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering (Aircraft Electrical Systems and Instruments) from Kenya Armed Forces Technical College from 1985 to 1989. James Muigai also completed their Kenya Certificate of Education at Meru Technical School from 1978 to 1981, after finishing high school at Siakago High School.
