Wangari Ngovi has a diverse work experience. Wangari served as Deputy Director (Technical Services) at Kenya National Library Service (knls) from February 2007 till the present. Prior to that, they worked at Kirangari High School as the Head of English Department from February 1987 to December 1991. Their responsibilities included time tabling, syllabus implementation, setting targets for improvement in the mean score for English and Literature, as well as moderating exams and marking schemes for CATs. Additionally, they taught English and literature to high school students at Khamisi High School in Mombasa from July 1985 to February 1987, performing the duties of a departmental head in charge of the English department.
Wangari Ngovi began their education at Kyeni Girls High School from 1979 to 1980, where they completed their high school education, studying Literature, Geography, History, and General paper. Following their high school education, they enrolled at Kenyatta University from 1981 to 1985. During this period, they pursued a Bachelor of Education degree with a focus in Education, Literature, and English. In 2001, Wangari Ngovi furthered their studies at Kenyatta University and obtained a Master of Education in library studies and a Bachelor of Education degree.
