Joseph Mbuyi's work experience includes various roles in finance and project management. Joseph started working at AKA Ausfuhrkredit-Gesellschaft mbH in 1991 as a Project Manager and stayed there until 1995. From 1996 to 2000, they worked at BayernLB as a Project Manager in Export and Project Finance. Joseph then joined DEG in 2000 as a Project Manager in Business Development for Central and West Africa. In 2004, they moved to KfW IPEX-Bank, where they served as a Senior Project Manager in the Petrochemical Industry for the Gulf Region and Mahgreb until 2011. Joseph then joined KfW, where they held the position of Resident Head of Representative Office - Country Director for Bamako Mali and Niamey Niger from 2011 to 2014. From 2014 to 2016, they worked as a Senior Project Manager in Energy & Governance Teams for West Africa. In 2016, they became the Chief Representative Officer of the Sub-Saharan Africa Regional Office at KfW until 2021. Currently, they are the Director of Origination and Structuring for Financial Institutions & Sovereigns in West Africa at KfW IPEX-Bank, starting in 2022.

Joseph Mbuyi pursued their education at the University of Cologne from 1985 to 1990, where they obtained a Diploma of Business Management. Their field of study included Business Management, Banking, Finance, and Treasury. Furthermore, in 1995, they attended the Canadian Securities Institute and received a Certificate of Investment Advisor for Canadian Security Markets. During this program, they focused on Investment Strategies and Instruments.
