Diane Peters

Diane Peters has a diverse and extensive work experience in the legal field. Diane currently holds the position of Chief Legal Officer, General Counsel & Secretary at Kickstarter since May 2021. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Policy Fellow at American University Washington College of Law, where they focused on developing and promoting intellectual property policies to support innovation, research, education, and health. Additionally, Diane co-founded and served as the steering committee chair at Open Covid Pledge, an organization that aims to facilitate the sharing of intellectual property to accelerate solutions for COVID-19. Diane has also held significant roles at organizations such as Creative Commons, Software Freedom Law Center, Committee on Best Practices for a Future Open Code Policy for NASA Space Science, Mozilla Corporation, The Linux Foundation, Ater Wynne LLP, and Andrews Kurth LLP. Diane's expertise includes legal counsel, policy development, licensing, and strategic support for various sectors including technology, open source software, and intellectual property rights.

Diane Peters has a Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Political Science and Government from Grinnell College. Diane completed their high school education at Ames High School.
