Avi Ya'akobovich, Ph.D

VP Materials and Applications at Kiinns

Avi Ya'akobovich, Ph.D has over 15 years of work experience in the field of materials and applications. From 2006 to 2014, they were the Materials Department Manager at Plasan Sasa Ltd, where they headed the material research, setup labs and supported various production processes and prototype production. Avi managed a group of 9 researchers/engineers (MSc's and PhD's) and managed R&D projects in polymeric fibers and fabrics, composite materials, metals, and ceramics. From 2014 to 2019, they were the CTO & VP R&D at CGW - Camel Grinding Wheels ltd, where they were a member of the management team, responsible for the company's IP, production recipes, co-formulated strategy and consulted to the BOD on technological issues. Avi also took part in M&A, collaborated with the sales and marketing teams on new product designs and introduced new technologies and lab equipment. Some of their key achievements included submitting and receiving funding for 3 government-funded projects (Ministry of Labor) in the field of computer aided simulation design and process performance enhancement through new polymeric materials and additives, as well as reducing 30% of production costs (2 different production processes) and increasing efficiency by recruiting 2 international leading experts. From 2019 to 2022, they were the Director Of Product Development at Spuntech Industries, where they managed development processes of new and innovative products, raw materials, and emerging technologies. Avi also worked directly with customers to understand their needs and come up with technical solutions. Some of their key achievements included initiating and leading two innovative development projects aimed at opening new markets in the filters, antibacterial, anti-viral and hygiene products, as well as streamlining the development lifecycle from ideation to sales. Avi is currently the VP Materials and Applications at Kiinns.

Avi Ya'akobovich's education history began in 2000 when they attended Technion - Israel Institute of Technology and obtained a B.Sc in Chemical Engineering in 2004. Avi then continued their studies at the same institution and obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc) in Chemical Engineering in 2008. Finally, in 2018, they completed their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Chemical Engineering at Technion - Israel Institute of Technology.
