Kik is a messaging app that was founded in 2009 by a small but passionate group of University of Waterloo students. Today, it has millions of users and is focused on being the best place to have a meaningful conversation with someone new. To stay true to that mission, Kik launched Kin – a cryptocurrency that powers a digital economy inside of Kik. It is now one of the most used cryptocurrencies in the world.

The team that founded Kik has a history in technology and management. The CEO and founder, Ted Livingston, studied mechatronics at the University of Waterloo. He then went on to start Code Inc., and eventually Kik Interactive, Inc. The technical product management coordinator at Research In Motion, Chris Dominguez, also has a background with the University of Waterloo. With experience in management and technology, this team has the skills necessary to develop and grow Kik.
