Donal Hodgins

Donal Hodgins has extensive experience in transportation management and engineering, currently serving as Chair and Vice Chair of ITS Nationals Network since August 2022 and as Senior Engineer (Head of Sustainable Transport & Traffic Management) at Kildare County Council since May 2021. Donal holds an ongoing role as International Liaison Officer and Board Member for Intelligent Transport Systems Ireland since 2010, previously serving as Chairperson at the National Transport Authority from September 2019 to June 2021. Prior positions include Chief Specialist at the Roads and Transport Authority from September 2017 to September 2019 and Senior Executive Engineer at Kildare County Council from 2006 to 2017, where significant traffic management initiatives were established. Educational qualifications include a Master’s and a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Management from the National University of Ireland, along with several postgraduate diplomas from Trinity College Dublin in Project Management and Public Administration for Engineers, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Structural, and Environmental Engineering.
