Léon van Maurik has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries. Léon began their career in 1999 as a Stuwadoor at Pronk Multiservice, where their responsibilities included loading and offloading ships and preparing cargo for transportation. Léon also worked as a Trainee at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Netherlands, analyzing the Chilean maritime sector and developing a business plan for the Dutch-Chilean Chamber of Commerce.
In 2006, van Maurik held a trainee position at Stork Food & Dairy Systems, where they analyzed the production process and made suggestions to reduce production costs. Léon then joined several shipping companies as a Navigational Officer and Ships Engineer, managing a team of sailors and overseeing navigation, voyage planning, and maintenance of onboard machinery and equipment.
In 2007, van Maurik joined Kingspan Insulated Panels as a Marketing Projects Co-ordinator and later became the Marketing Manager Benelux, responsible for developing and implementing marketing plans for the Kingspan Benchmark product range. Léon also served as the Divisional Commercial CRM Implementation Projects Manager. In 2011, they joined Bostik as a Market Strategy Manager Construction Systems, where they coordinated the creation of the corporate global strategic marketing plan.
van Maurik's roles at Kingspan continued with positions such as Marketing Manager and Country Manager for the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and CEE Export. Léon later became the European Head of Marketing for Kingspan Insulation, overseeing marketing activities in 20 countries in Continental Europe. In 2021, they became the Country Manager Netherlands before taking on their current role as the Managing Director of Kingspan Shaped Solutions, focused on delivering innovative and complex engineered shapes for various applications.
Throughout their career, van Maurik has demonstrated expertise in marketing, strategic planning, team management, and business development.

- In 2021, they attended IMD for a course in Strategy Execution.
- In 2016, they completed a program in Strategic Business to Business Marketing at Vlerick Business School.
- From 2006 to 2007, they pursued a Master of Business Studies (MBS) in Marketing at the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School, which is part of the University College Dublin.
- From 2002 to 2006, they obtained a Bachelor's degree (BSc) in International Management from the Hogeschool voor Economische Studies Amsterdam, which is a part of the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences.
Additionally, they have a certification as a Trained Climate Reality Leader from The Climate Reality Project, obtained in 2014.
