Melinda Palomares

Senior Clinical Laboratory Scientist at Kit

Melinda Palomares has worked in the laboratory field since 2009. Melinda began their career as a Laboratory Technician at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. In 2014, Melinda was promoted to Clinical Laboratory Scientist in the Microbiology Department. During their time there, they performed a wide variety of testing on patient culture specimens, trained new employees, and calibrated instruments. In 2015, Melinda moved to the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, where they worked as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in the Microbiology Department. In 2017, they joined MarinHealth Medical Center as a Clinical Laboratory Systems Analyst/LIS Specialist. In this role, they participated in the support, maintenance, and testing of the laboratory information systems, implemented and maintained coding and mapping for laboratory test ordering, and performed design, build, testing, validation, and implementation of new instruments. Most recently, Melinda joined Kit.com as a Senior Clinical Laboratory Scientist in 2022.

Melinda Palomares obtained their High School Diploma from Scotch Plains Fanwood High School in 2003. Melinda then attended Rowan University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biological Science in 2007. Melinda continued their education at Rutgers University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Sciences (Cytotechnology) in 2008. In 2014, Palomares obtained a Certification in Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology/Technologist from San Francisco State University. Melinda also obtained certifications from the American Association for Clinical Chemistry, California Department of Public Health, and American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) in 2022, 2014, and 2014 respectively.
