Akos Barabas

Akos Barabas has a diverse work experience in the field of data engineering and consulting. Akos started their career as an intern at Vodafone and IFUA Horváth&Partners in 2010. Akos then worked as a DWH/BI consultant at BInergy Ltd. Hungary and Starschema Ltd from 2012 to 2015. In 2016, they joined GE Digital as a Data Engineer, where they played a key role in building the data service module of GE's industrial cloud product. Akos worked on various ETL pipelines and data warehouses using technologies like Pivotal Greenplum, Talend, and Python. After that, they worked as a Data Engineer at Omio, where they focused on building and managing the data warehouse using Apache Airflow and AWS. Akos then moved to Zalando SE, where they worked as a Data Engineer. In 2021, they joined upday as a Data/MLOps Engineer, where they worked until 2022. Their responsibilities included working on data engineering and machine learning operations. Most recently, they worked as a Data Engineer at Peek & Cloppenburg KG Düsseldorf, where they were involved in building and improving a data mesh platform using technologies like Python, SQL, Airflow, BigQuery, and GCP. Currently, they are working as a Data Engineer at eBay Kleinanzeigen.

Akos Barabas attended Budapest University of Technology and Economics from 2006 to 2010, earning a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Technical Informatics. Akos then pursued further education at the same university, obtaining a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Business Information Systems from 2011 to 2013. In 2009, Akos also briefly attended Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) for a period of one year, studying informatics. Additionally, in 2012, they attended the Aquincum Institute of Technology, focusing on IT Entrepreneurship.
