Elizabeth Mitchell

Elizabeth Mitchell completed her Ph.D. in cell biology at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. She became interested in the tumor microenvironment due to the inability of targeted therapies directed against mutations within the tumor cell to change the outcome of patients diagnosed with late-stage cancer. In the last few years, she was working on her postdoctoral fellowship at Oregon Health & Science University where she found a novel link between myoepithelial cell differentiation and immune activation state that may indicate ductal carcinoma in situ cases at high risk of progression.
