Bill is a data scientist and physicist who has spent most of his career working on experiments to detect particle dark matter. This work centered on combining physics-based modeling with statistical methods to look for small signals in background-dominated datasets. He has experience contributing to physics experiments on a variety of fronts, from signal processing algorithms, to data pipeline design, to instrumentation.
Bill holds a B.A. in physics from Bowdoin College and a Ph.D. in physics from the University of British Columbia. He has also worked as a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Physics Department at UC Berkeley.
