Jimmy Voorhis has a diverse work experience spanning various fields. Starting in 2012, they worked as a Program Coordinator at Tufts University, where they coordinated the Tufts Wilderness Orientation program. In 2015, they held multiple roles, including Instructor at Knower Academics, Guide at Cathedral Mountain Guides, and Guide at Alaska Mountaineering School. Jimmy also worked as an Explorer at National Geographic from 2016 to 2017, studying the impact of climate change on ice climbing and winter guiding in the Mount Washington Valley. In 2017, Jimmy worked as a Sustainability Research Fellow at the University of New Hampshire. Jimmy then joined Golder, where they progressed from Junior Geochemist to Staff Geochemist, Project Geochemist, and finally to Geochemist. In 2021, they became a Principal Consultant at Osprey Environmental Inc. Currently, Jimmy is the Head of Biomass Utilization and Policy at Kodama Systems.
Jimmy Voorhis has an extensive education background in the field of Geological and Earth Sciences/Geosciences. Jimmy obtained their Master of Science (M.S.) degree from Dartmouth College, where they studied from 2012 to 2014. Prior to that, Jimmy completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Geological and Earth Sciences/Geosciences, as well as Engineering Science, at Tufts University, attending from 2008 to 2012.
In addition to their academic achievements, Jimmy has also acquired various certifications. In 2016, they received Avalanche II Training from the ALASKA AVALANCHE SCHOOL. Subsequently, in 2019, they obtained the sUAS Remote Pilot Certification from the Federal Aviation Administration. Furthermore, in 2012, Jimmy completed the Wilderness First Responder certification at SOLO Wilderness Medical School.
