Job description

Kopp Glass is seeking to fill a role for a Senior Accountant to support and perform various activities within the accounting department, including preparing financial statements and footnotes, coordinating the completion of month-end close information such as metrics and KPI’s, General Ledger maintenance, supporting Inventory Accounting, Fixed Assets, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions, as well as participating in ad hoc projects within the department. The outlook of this role is on the continuous improvement of all financial accounting processes. Effective communication (written and oral), critical thinking, and disciplined time management skills are essential for success in this position. This Senior Accountant is action-oriented and takes the initiative with a sense of urgency, while being self-disciplined and managing multiple priorities simultaneously and demonstrating a high level of effectiveness in fostering a “one team” mindset with a history of getting things done. The Senior Accountant will report directly to and function as the backup to the Accounting Manager.  This individual will also interface regularly with a wide range of functional area managers. Additionally, this is a full-time, onsite role based in Swissvale, PA. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for transacting the monthly financial processes, reporting and analyses, ensuring transactions are properly classified, and internal financial statements are reported in accordance with GAAP.

  • Coordinates and manages daily process and productivity of the day-to-day activities in accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, shareholder administration, salary payroll, hourly payroll, cash, inventory management, fixed asset management, ensuring needs of the business are met timely and accurately

  • Change Agent, experience in changing legacy processes within an organization.  Learn, assess, re-build, delegate.  Build scalable solution via people, process, systems.  Process versus transaction oriented

  • Technologically-savvy; someone who uses systems and other data driven applications to save time and reduce inefficiencies. They are adaptive learners and have experience mastering new software through self-directed study and previous experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related fields.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA candidate, or MBA preferred.
    • 2-4 years of increasingly responsible accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment, including experience with ERP system
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
