María Fernanda Cervera

Associate Director, Curriculum And Online Learning at KQED

María Fernanda Cervera has a diverse work experience in the fields of education and media. María Fernanda began their career as an Educational Material Designer at Kuruwi, Lugar de Niños, where they collaborated with teachers to develop tailored educational materials. María Fernanda then worked at XEIPN Canal Once de Televisión Once TV México as the Content Manager for Kids, leading the development of on-air programs for Once Niños. María Fernanda significantly increased ratings during their time there and was recognized with the Journalist Prize for Radio and Television. María Fernanda then joined Playful Science for Families at REDLab as a Graduate Research Assistant, where they focused on developing science activities for families. In 2015, María Fernanda joined KQED as an Online Learning Manager and later became the Associate Director of Curriculum and Online Learning. María Fernanda played a key role in the development and launch of KQED Teach, a digital platform that promotes media literacy in classrooms. María Fernanda's work at KQED earned their recognition, including the Media Literate Media award by the National Association of Media Literacy. María Fernanda has also spoken at industry conferences such as ISTE and SXSWedu.

María Fernanda Cervera completed their Bachelor's Degree from 2005 to 2010 at Universidad Iberoamericana in Ciudad de México. María Fernanda pursued a degree in Communication and Media Studies during this time. Later, from 2013 to 2014, María Fernanda enrolled in Stanford University, where they obtained a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree specializing in Learning, Design & Technology.
