Tom Carey

Tom Carey is a skilled Stop Motion Animator currently employed at LAIKA Studios since January 2022, where previous roles included Junior and Assistant Stop Motion Animator. In addition, Tom participated as a guest speaker at Aha Media's educational Q&A series, discussing the Stop Motion Animator's role in feature films. Tom served on multiple juries for the Children’s Film Festival Seattle in 2023 and 2024, selecting winners for Best Animated and Best Live-Action Short awards, and contributed to the NFFTY 2023 Animation Jury. Further experience includes directing and animating a graduation film at Arts University Bournemouth, and a brief internship at LAIKA, LLC. Tom also worked as a model maker for Yamination Studios on a Hasbro TV commercial and acted in seasonal Halloween attractions at Scream Park. Tom holds a BA(Hons) in Animation Production from Arts University Bournemouth and an Art Foundation Diploma from Brighton MET.
