Brent Robinson

As dean of student academic success, Dr. Robinson creates and carries out co-curricular programs to aid in student retention and persistence through graduation. He works alongside academic advisors, tracks student feedback and serves as an intermediary between faculty and students, coordinating academic appeals and petitions processes. Further, he develops key assessments for academic empowerment at Lake Erie College.

Dr. Robinson has over ten years of student-centered advocacy and administrative experience in higher education. He previously served at Lake Erie College for five years, starting as an academic advisor. Later, he became the director of academic advising and the academic learning center (ALC), which he created. In addition, he taught courses in philosophy of religion, world religions, and first-year experience.

Most recently, Dr. Robinson served as the assistant dean for academic student support services within University College at Kent State University. During this time, he oversaw the Academic Success Center, Career Exploration and Development and the Office of Experiential Education and Civic Engagement.

Some of his key accomplishments included helping to lead KSU's Academic Success Center to national prominence as the 2016 Frank L. Christ Outstanding Learning Center through the National College Learning Center Association. He notably acted as principal investigator for the 2015-2020 TRIO Student Support Services grant competition through the Department of Education, which yielded $2.2 million in funding. At KSU, he led the development of innovative student programming around the university Discovering Purpose initiatives.
