Joana Fernandes has a diverse work experience, beginning in 2016 as an Administrator for their own consulting firm, Joana Fernandes Consultoria E.I. In 2017, they worked as a Project Assistant for Bioinsight. In 2018, they worked as a Retail Assistant for PLATFORM 9 3/4 K1NGS CROSS LTD, a Research and Admin Volunteer for the Environmental Investigation Agency, a National Bat Monitoing Programme Intern (Volunteer) for The Bat Conservation Trust, and a Project Development and Admin Intern (volunteer) for SEED Madagascar. In 2019, they worked as a Research Assistant and a Volunteer Research Assistant for FOUR PAWS, as well as a Temporary National Bat Monitoring Programme Assistant for The Bat Conservation Trust. Currently, they are working as an Iberia partnerships manager for Land Life, a position they have held since 2022.
Joana Fernandes has a Master's degree in Ecology from Universidade de Coimbra, which they obtained in 2012. Joana also holds a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the same university, which they obtained in 2010. In addition, they obtained an Open Water Diver certification from PADI in 2017, and a Strategy Development for Wildlife Conservation certification from WildTeam UK in March 2019.
