Desmond Tay

Desmond Tay is an accomplished professional with extensive experience at the Land Transport Authority (LTA) in Singapore since July 2016, currently serving as Manager for EV Regulations and previously as Deputy Manager for the National Electric Vehicle Centre and in Bus Service Development. Desmond leads initiatives in bus safety, including safety audits and trend analysis, and successfully launched the inaugural Public Transport Safety and Security Awards in August 2022, recognizing over 100 public transport employees. Collaborative efforts with unions and operators resulted in the Safety Champion initiative, fostering a culture of safety at the workplace. Notably, Desmond initiated the first On-Demand Public Bus trial in December 2018. Prior experience includes an internship at the Housing and Development Board, where skills in Geographic Information System (GIS) were applied for urban planning and sustainability projects. Desmond holds a Bachelor of Social Science (Honours) in Geography from the National University of Singapore.
