Hanna Starobinets

Associate Director, Discovery Biology at Larkspur Biosciences

Hanna Starobinets has worked in various scientific positions throughout their career. Hanna started as an undergraduate researcher in Cancer Research UK and later on as an undergraduate researcher in the Dr. Robert Weinberg Laboratory at Whitehead Institute. Then, they worked as a lab manager in the Dr. Sandra McAllister Laboratory at Harvard Medical School. Hanna continued their education, during which they worked as a Ph.D. candidate in Dr. Jayanta Debnath Laboratory at the University of California, San Francisco. Starobinets then joined Genocea, where they had various roles such as Scientist I, Scientist II, and Senior Scientist in Preclinical Development. At Genocea, they led multiple collaborations focusing on immunotherapy for melanoma, pancreatic cancer, and autoimmunity. Starobinets most recently accepted a position as Associate Director in Discovery Biology at Larkspur Biosciences starting in August 2022.

Hanna Starobinets received their high school education from Lexington High School from 2001-2005. Hanna then went on to attend Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 2005-2009, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in both Biology and Theatre Arts. Hanna further pursued their education and received a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from University of California, San Francisco from 2011-2016. In May 2020, they obtained a certification in The Foundations of Happiness at Work offered by edX at UC Berkeley.
