Yurong Xin

Yurong Xin has a strong background in data science and bioinformatics, with extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Yurong is currently serving as the Senior Director and Head of Data Science at Laronde, a position they have held since March 2021. Prior to this, Yurong worked at Vertex Pharmaceuticals as the Director of Bioinformatics from September 2019 to March 2021.

Yurong's career in the pharmaceutical industry began at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in 2011, where they started as a Scientist and eventually became an Associate Director. In this role, they focused on the discovery of disease targets and biomarkers, utilizing molecular profiling data and meta-analysis approaches to identify metabolic disease-associated genes. Yurong remained with Regeneron until September 2019.

Before joining the industry, Yurong held positions at Columbia University and New York University, where they focused on research in epigenetics and neuropsychiatric disorders. As an Assistant Research Scientist at Columbia University from February 2008 to August 2011, Yurong developed algorithms and data analysis pipelines for profiling genome-wide DNA methylation patterns and established gene expression signatures for large depression and schizophrenia cohorts using microarray data. Prior to this, they were a Postdoctoral Fellow at New York University from November 2005 to January 2008.

Yurong Xin has a Ph.D in Bioinformatics and Computational Molecular Biology from Rutgers University. Prior to that, Yurong Xin obtained an MS in Genetics and a BS in Biology from Fudan University.
