Andrew H. Jones, Ph.D.

Andrew H. Jones, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience in research and engineering roles. Andrew H. is currently a Research Scientist at Laser Thermal, where they have been working since 2022. Previously, they worked at the University of Virginia as a Postdoctoral Research Associate from 2020 to 2022. Before that, they served as a Graduate Research Assistant and a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Virginia from 2017 to 2020.

Jones also worked as an Engineer at Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc from 2014 to 2016, and as a Systems Automation Intern at the same company in 2013. In 2012, they were a Nuclear Automation Intern at Westinghouse Electric Company.

Starting their career in 2008, Jones worked as a Laboratory Research Assistant at Virginia Military Institute until 2011. In this role, they conducted hydrangea pigment modeling research, managed and mentored students, handled lab equipment and chemicals with attention to detail, and presented research to department faculty.

Andrew H. Jones, Ph.D. received their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Grove City College between 2010 and 2014. Andrew H. then pursued their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the University of Virginia from 2016 to 2020. In addition to their academic degrees, Andrew also obtained an Amateur Radio License from the Federal Communications Commission in November 2012 and a Security Clearance from the U.S. Department of Energy in May 2013.
