Gary Dan Williams has an extensive work history in the education field. Gary Dan began their career as an Agriscience Teacher at Lawrence County Schools from 1999 to 2005. Gary Dan then moved on to Lauderdale County Schools where they worked as an Agriscience Teacher from 2006 to 2009. During this time, they taught a variety of courses and served as an advisor for the FFA chapter. Following this, Gary worked at Muscle Shoals City Schools as the Director of Career and Technical Education/Principal from 2009 to 2015. In this role, they focused on providing professional development resources for teachers and improving student achievement. Afterwards, they became the Principal of a P-12 school at Waterloo High School from 2015 to 2018. Here, they were responsible for supervising staff, maintaining discipline, and creating an effective learning environment. In 2018, Gary took on the role of Adjunct Professor at Murray State University and became the Director of Career & Technical Education at Lauderdale County Schools.

Gary Dan Williams earned their Associate of Science degree from Northwest Shoals Community College-Muscle Shoals in the years 1994 to 1996. Gary Dan then pursued a Bachelor of Education (BEd) degree in Agriscience Education at Auburn University from 1996 to 1998. After that, they obtained a Master's degree in Agribusiness Education from Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University between 1999 and 2001. Continuing their education, Gary completed a Master of Education (MEd) in Educational Leadership and Administration, General at the University of North Alabama from 2003 to 2005. Finally, they earned their highest degree, a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Education, from Auburn University, spanning the years 2011 to 2014.
