Simon Blee

Head of Software at Launchpad.build

Simon Blee has a diverse work experience spanning different industries and roles. Simon started their career as an Electrical Design Engineer at SCADA Systems Engineering, where they managed projects, designed safety and automation systems, and programmed PLCs. Simon then worked as a Systems Engineer and Electronics Engineer at Thales and Thales Australia, where they focused on systems engineering, electronic design, and PCB design for soldier systems research and development. Simon later joined Mobilarm as a Systems Engineer and Hardware Design Engineer, designing personal locator beacons for maritime safety and working on system and embedded hardware design. Simon also worked as a Web Developer at Reignite, specializing in mobile and web app development using various frameworks.

At The Gift Mansion, Simon took on multiple roles, serving as the Director and overseeing technical, accounting, legal, and business management aspects. Simon also acted as the CTO and was responsible for application architecture, database design, build and testing procedures, and integration with external webservices.

Simon then joined JuiceBox Creative as a Senior Developer, building complex web applications for clients and implementing development processes. Simon worked with Symfony, Silex, NodeJS, Backbone, and Marionette frameworks, following RESTful development methodologies.

In their most recent positions, Simon was the Software Engineering Team Lead at Modbot, leading the development of a modular robotics platform with various custom applications. Currently, they are the Head of Software at Launchpad.build, where they manage all software components and provides visibility of the product build process.

Simon Blee attended Curtin University from 2004 to 2008, where they pursued a double degree in BEng with a specialization in Electronic and Communications Engineering, as well as a BSc in Physics.
