Teresa Victor, Ph.D. has a strong background in cognitive neuroscience and scientific communication. Teresa currently serves as the Director of Scientific Communications at the Laureate Institute for Brain Research, a position they have held since September 2019. Prior to this, Teresa had various roles at the institute, including Staff Scientist in the Research Core Facility from May 2015 to the present and Graphic Design and Web Administrator from October 2013 to September 2019. Teresa also worked as a Cognitive Neuroscientist from July 2009 to April 2015 at the same institute.
Before joining the Laureate Institute for Brain Research, Teresa was a Ph.D. Candidate in Clinical Neuroscience at Karolinska Institutet and the National Institutes of Health-NIMH. Their research during this time focused on studying the functional neuroanatomical networks underlying mood-congruent processing biases in mood and anxiety disorders using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Their research interests included investigating the pathophysiology of mood and anxiety disorders, establishing neural networks involved in emotional information processing, developing longitudinal studies for early diagnosis and characterizing endophenotypes in major depressive disorder, differentiating trait-like versus mood-state dependent neural response abnormalities and vulnerability to relapse, and identifying biomarkers of effective antidepressant treatments. Teresa completed their Ph.D. in July 2009.
Teresa's work experience also includes a role as a Postbaccalaureate Research Fellow at the National Institutes of Health-NIAAA from August 2001 to July 2002.
Teresa Victor, Ph.D., has a strong education background in the field of neuroscience and psychology. Teresa obtained a Ph.D. in Clinical Neuroscience from the Karolinska Institutet, where they studied from 2002 to 2009. Prior to that, they received a B.A. in Psychology and Biology from St. Norbert College from 1997 to 2001.
