Xiang Peng

Xiang (Sean) Peng is a seasoned professional in optical sciences and laser technology, currently serving as the NIF Laser Optical Diagnostics System Group Lead at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory since July 2023. With a robust background, Xiang led global cross-functional R&D and NPI teams as Director of Engineering at Lumentum from June 2016 to December 2022, and established an R&D team for laser technology at Elixir Photonics as Director of Research Development from August 2015 to June 2016. Previous experience includes tenure as Principal Scientist at Raydiance, Inc., where key government-funded programs for high-power ultra-short pulse fiber laser systems were managed, and as Senior Research Scientist at IMRA America Inc., focusing on the development of specialty fiber for high-power pulsed fiber lasers. Xiang holds a PhD in Optical Sciences from the University of Arizona and both a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science from Fudan University in Laser and Optical Engineering and Physics, respectively.
