Christopher Stefani

Director, External Academic Initiatives at Lawrence Technological University

Christopher L. Stefani, Director of External Academic Initiatives, is also the acting director for the DCDT Design Incubator. Stefani previously worked as assistant director of the DCDT and took on his new role as associate director on Feb. 1, 2017 to coincide with the launch of its Design Incubator services - funded by the Hudson Webber Foundation. He began his work with the College of Architecture and Design at Lawrence Technological University in 2013 as a graduate assistant to the Associate Dean.

In 2016, Stefani established his own practice, The C.L. Stefani Company, in Detroit. This multidisciplinary design-think group creates and curates teams to collaborate on a variety of projects - all set to move the city forward.

In 2015 Stefani earned his SEED certification under the direction of Brian Bell of Harvard University. Prior to this accomplishment, he co-authored the LTU (+) Program, a STEAM based architectural curriculum used in K-12 educational institutions. The program focused on engaging students in architecture and urban design through critical-thinking and experimentation.

By implementing the LTU (+) curriculum at Detroit's Denby High School and at Roosevelt Elementary in Keego Harbor, Stefani partnered with outstanding community and educational organizations such as Detroit Future City, Educational Achievement Authority of Michigan, Detroit Public Schools, the American Institute of Architects National, the National Order of Minority Architects, and more.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture + Interior Architecture in 2014 and a Master of Architecture degree with a focus on architectural education in impoverished communities in 2016 from Lawrence Technological University.
