Jaco Smit

Jaco Smit possesses extensive experience in production and process control, currently serving at Leader Rubber Company since January 2019. Previously, Jaco held the role of Process Engineer at Auto & Truck Tyres (Pty) Ltd from February 2018 to December 2018 and at South32 from November 1995 to December 2015, focusing on efficiency improvements in OB Converter operations. Jaco also worked as a Business Improvement Specialist at BHP Billiton from 2010 to 2012, where the emphasis was on enhancing cost efficiency and quality in major plant operations through best practice methodologies like BI, LEAN, and Six Sigma. Earlier, a supervisory role as Shift Production Supervisor at BHP Billiton (1996-2009) involved overseeing the operations of multiple SiMn submersed arc furnaces and managing a team. Jaco holds a Baccalaureus Technologiae degree in Operations Management obtained between 2009 and 2012.
