Criminal Duty Counsel at Legal Aid Ontario

Kate Rose Siemiatycki has a diverse range of work experience. Kate Rose most recently worked as a Criminal Duty Counsel at Legal Aid Ontario starting in April 2021. Prior to that, they worked at the Ministry of the Attorney General as Counsel- Justice Centres Initiative from October 2019 to April 2021. Kate Rose also gained experience as an Associate at Rochon Genova LLP, focusing on Civil Sexual Assault and Indigenous Rights from November 2018 to October 2019. Earlier in their career, they held roles at the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General as Counsel - Community Justice Centre Initiative from June 2017 to September 2018, and as an Articling Student at Crown Law Office Criminal from August 2016 to June 2017. Kate Rose also has experience as a Criminal Law Student at the Law Offices of Michael Mandelcorn and Connie Baran-Gerez in the summer of 2015. Additionally, they worked as a Legal Caseworker at Parkdale Community Legal Services, as a Family Law Project Volunteer at Pro Bono Students Canada, and as a Client Advocate at Fair Change Pro bono Legal Clinic. Kate has also collaborated with The Young Foundation as a Youth Justice Associate and served as Director for French Programming and Election Distribution Manager at Student Vote.

Kate Rose Siemiatycki obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Contemporary Studies from the University of King's College, where they studied from 2005 to 2009. Subsequently, they pursued a Doctor of Law (JD) degree at York University's Osgoode Hall Law School, completing their studies from 2013 to 2016.
