Bernd Abel

Bernd Abel is a prominent academic and entrepreneur, currently serving as a Professor (Chair of Chemical Engineering of Polymers, W3) at Universität Leipzig since June 2012 and as the Deputy Director/Head of the Department Functional Surfaces at the Leibniz Institute of Surface Engineering (IOM) since the same year. Abel is also the founder and owner of Advanced Microfluidic Systems GmbH and previously founded Microliquids GmbH. As a key contributor to the academic community, Abel has held various prestigious roles, including being a Co-Founder of Advanced Quantum Technology UG/GmbH and a Somorjai Visiting Miller Professor at UC Berkeley. With a distinguished career spanning several prominent institutions, Abel's expertise encompasses chemical engineering, physical chemistry, and surface engineering. Abel received a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of Göttingen and has held significant positions at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen prior to joining Universität Leipzig.
