Pradipta Das is currently a Research Assistant at the Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT) GmbH, engaged in scientific publication, poster presentations, and biweekly working group meetings focused on Experimental Aquaculture since December 2021. Pradipta completed a Master Thesis that involved studying the adaptability of endosymbiotic jellyfish under varying climatic conditions through oxygen measurements and biomarker analysis. Prior experience includes a Research Intern role at the Alfred Wegener Institute, where in vivo characterization of coral biomineralization was conducted using microscopy techniques, and a previous internship at ZMT involving ecophysiological experiments and data analysis. Earlier work at ITC Limited involved physical and chemical analysis of wheat. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Environmental Toxicology from the University of Duisburg-Essen and a Master of Science in Biotechnology from Bangalore University, among other relevant degrees.

The Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT) GmbH aims to provide a scientific basis for the protection and sustainable use of tropical coastal ecosystems. Its activities are focused on three main areas: 1) Research: In close cooperation with partners in the tropics, ZMT leads interdisciplinary projects concerning the structure and functioning of tropical coastal ecosystems such as coral reefs, mangroves, seagrass beds, upwelling areas and river estuaries. These habitats are among the most productive on the planet and of great economic and ecological importance. Consequently, their response to human impact and natural changes are of great interest. 2) Capacity development: ZMT is involved in the education of students and young scientists from all over the world in the field of tropical marine ecology and in the tropics ZMT supports capacity development in the area of research. 3) Consulting: ZMT is a national and international focal point for research, educational and government institutions for the exchange of expert knowledge in the field of tropical marine ecology.
