Paulo Sousa

Paulo Sousa has a strong and diverse work experience. Paulo is currently serving as the VP of Data Science at LetsGetChecked, where they have implemented a data science and analytics platform for internal and client-facing usage. Prior to this, Paulo worked as the CEO & CTO of Maxdata Software, where they successfully increased the company's market share and customer satisfaction. Paulo also held the role of Director of Innovation, where they led groundbreaking R&D projects and collaborated with national and international labs. Paulo's previous experience includes working as a Chief Dependability & Security Officer at Maxdata Software and as an Invited Assistant Professor at the University of Lisbon, where they coordinated and taught various courses. Paulo also worked as a Research Scientist at LASIGE, where they received the IBM Scientific Award for their work on building secure and highly available distributed systems. Paulo started their career as an IT Consultant at Novabase.

Paulo Sousa has a strong educational background in computer science. Paulo obtained their Licenciatura degree in Computer Science from the University of Lisbon, where they studied from 1997 to 2001. Paulo then pursued a Pos-graduation in Computer Science at the same university, completing it in 2003. In the following year, they achieved a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Lisbon, graduating in 2007.

In addition to their academic degrees, Paulo Sousa has also obtained certifications in the field. Paulo became a EU Data Protection Officer in December 2018 after completing the certification program offered by Behaviour Group. Furthermore, they became a PECB Certified ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Implementer in December 2015, having completed the certification program offered by PECB.
