Umang Bhatt

Umang Bhatt is currently an Assistant Professor and Faculty Fellow at New York University's Center for Data Science since October 2023. As a Senior Research Associate at The Alan Turing Institute since September 2021, Umang contributes to the Safe and Ethical AI Team. Additionally, Umang serves as an Associate Fellow and Student Fellow at the Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence, focused on Trust and Transparency. As an Advisor at the Responsible AI Institute since January 2022 and a PhD Candidate in the Machine Learning Group at the University of Cambridge from September 2019 to November 2023, Umang has also held positions as a Research Fellow at Harvard University's Center for Research on Computation and Society and a Fellow at Mozilla. Previous research and advisory roles include positions at the Partnership on AI and Credo AI, along with student fellow responsibilities at .406 Ventures. Umang holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and a PhD in Machine Learning from the University of Cambridge.
