Dezra Edwards

Dezra Edwards is an experienced educator with a diverse background in special education, currently serving as an Adjunct Instructor at the University of North Texas since August 2012, teaching special education law and evaluation to graduate students. Since January 2002, Dezra has been an Educational Diagnostician for Lewisville ISD, ensuring compliance with legal guidelines and supporting educators in developing effective recommendations for students with disabilities. As Lead Trainer for students with autism at Student Learning and Teaching Environments (SLATE) since May 1995, Dezra has facilitated workshops to enhance understanding of autism spectrum disorder. Previous roles include serving as a Special Education Teacher and Educational Diagnostician at Lake Dallas ISD and as a Special Education Teacher at Gladewater ISD. Dezra holds a Master of Education in Educational Diagnostician from Texas Woman's University, a Master's in Education with a focus on Visual Impairments from Texas Tech University, and dual bachelor's degrees in Special Education and Teaching from Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
