Lieber Institute for Brain Development
Jiyoung Kim has worked in the field of scientific research since 2010. Jiyoung began their career as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Institutes of Health, where they conducted longevity studies using Drosophila. In 2016, they became a Scientist at Elixirgen Therapeutics, Inc., where they specialized in the in vitro differentiation of a variety of human tissue, including neurons, skeletal muscle, and blood cells. In 2021, they became a Staff Scientist at the Lieber Institute for Brain Development, where they focus on trophoblast, placental stem cells, and differentiation in vitro from schizophrenic patient-derived stem cells.
Jiyoung Kim obtained a Certificate of middle/high school teacher in sceince from the Administry of education in Korean in February 2004. Jiyoung then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from Konkuk University. After that, they earned a Master of Science (M.S.) in Animal Genetics from Konkuk University, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Animal Genetics from the same university.

The mission of the Lieber Institute for Brain Development (LIBD) is to translate the understanding of basic genetic and molecular mechanisms of schizophrenia and related developmental brain disorders into clinical advances that change the lives of affected individuals.
