Joseph Bohlen began their career in 2009 as a Manager at Corner Ice House. In 2013, they became a Research Assistant at Towson University. In 2014, they became a Research Assistant WVU at West Virginia University. In 2016, they joined the Lieber Institute for Brain Development as a Scientist I, an Associate Researcher, a Research Assistant, and a Research Technician. In this role, they served as Project Leader for the animal model section of the Maher lab, focusing on manipulation of genes to study phenotypic differences in ASD and pursue therapeutic rescue. Projects ranged from basic cellular assays to animal models with manipulations.
Joseph Bohlen obtained an Associate's degree in Health Professions and Related Clinical Sciences, Other from Harford Community College between 2008 and 2011. Joseph then received a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from Towson University between 2011 and 2014. During this time, they were also CITI certified in Bio-medical Research in 2011. In 2014, they received a Master's degree in Physiology, General and a Master's degree in Cancer Cell Biology from West Virginia University. Joseph is also a member of the American Diabetes Association.
